Hot, Hot, Hot
A different kind of walking, a different kind of day. After walking through open countryside for most of the last two weeks, yesterday was a real shock to the system. We started walking at 8.40 am in Denny and walked through the delightful views of Cumbernauld with its collection of McDonalds, Burger Kings, KFC etc. It was very difficult to walk through the towns as there are hardly any footpaths and lots of busy dual carriageways. After a few miles through open countryside we hit Airdrie which we would recommend anyone planning a holiday to this part of the world avoids. The weather was hot and sunny ... a little too hot for walking. In the afternoon we were joined by our first co-walkers, Katey, Steve & William Draper from Lichfield along with their dogs Harry & Potter. We had an enjoyable afternoon talking as we walked. We finished for the day in Newmains at 4.00 pm having covered 21 miles. The total now stands at 286 miles and a milestone today was that we saw our first signs for Carlisle stating 100 miles!! We enjoyed a very sociable evening at the Bothwell Bridge Hotel after eating at daluciano's. Thank to the two ladies from Boots (apologies we don't know your names) and to Marie & Gerry for their generous donations.
