Mad Dogs and Englishmen ...
Phew, what a scorcher!! Today has been our hottest yet with cloudless skies and temperatures up to 23 degrees and no wind. However, not to be beaten by the elements, we set off at 8.40am from Crawford and headed down the B7076 which runs parallel to the M74. We are heading south pretty much all the time now and knocking off towns day by day. Today's walk has been through open countryside with only farm animals for company. After a break for lunch in Moffat we resumed walking through Johnstonebridge to the Dunwoodie Lodge Hotel. We have clocked up another 21 miles today over 6 hours bringing the total to 336 miles. The border with England at Gretna is now only 25 miles away so tomorrow will be our last full day walking in Scotland. Today we have discussed Nicaragua (was Oliver North a Colonel or another rank?), number plates of cars we have owned (will the Mayor of Walsall please give me back DH1 because my Grandpa only lent it to you - Mike) and Naomi Campbell (a moody bird with a long neck). Yes we know these subjects are a bit naff but talking about pretty much anything makes the miles go quicker. As always, your suggestions for tomorrow would be very welcomed. I (Mike) have made suggestions for the letter ‘O' but not all of them are ‘bloggable'. Nick & Mike P.S – Richard the Maths challenge was posted by David & Carol on the message board.
