501 Up

Not strictly Saturday but Friday evening deserves a special mention.  At the Villagio Hotel in Warrington we met two great guys Daz and Dan who were busy arranging Daz's forthcoming wedding reception.  Great guys to talk to and very generous with their donation.  We then had fabulous dinner with Mike's friends Graham, Claude and 2 year old Carmen.  Lots of fun and great food followed by plenty of red wine and flaming sambucca's. 

On Saturday morning we started our walk just near Warrington and followed the A49 through rural Cheshire for the rest of the day.  After a few miles we joined by Philip Sanders (Nick's cousin) who had driven up from Cannock and walked with us for the rest of the day. We walked through Cuddington and then on past the Cheshire Polo Club which looked immaculate.  The oddest sight of the day was a dead koi carp on the pavement which we guessed had been dropped by a heron.  It was great talking with Phil who kept up with the pace all day. We finished in Cotebrook around 15.30 dropping Mike off at the Tollemache Arms Inn in Apraham while Nick & Charlotte headed back home.

In total we walked 20 miles bringing the grand total up to exactly the 500 mark.  We now have somewhere between 340 and 380 miles to go (depending on whose maps you read).
