60 out for a stroll!!
We finished off the third leg with a great walk from Monmouth down to the old Severn Bridge at Chepstow. We were joined by Dene Jones form Lloyds Bank and Steve Roberts ex CompAir. The day was a relaxed 17 mile stroll down the beautiful Wye Valley winding through some remarkable countryside. We had a very sociable day with the guys that started out discussing business subjects but then descended into a general trivia quiz which both Dene and Steve excelled at. Dene in particular had an amazing knowledge of the Olympics and Steve of 1980's music. We stopped for lunch at Tintern Abbey and then walked on past Chepstow Race Course and then onto the bridge. Having completed 11 days of walking the 3rd leg and a total of 624 miles we headed home for 3 days of R&R before embarking on the final leg. Today has been our biggest day yet when we were joined by nearly 60 pupils and staff from Hydesville School in Walsall which Nick's son Toby attends. The pupils raised a lot of money for charities and walked with us over the bridge and then along the Severn Way. The kids were absolutely marvellous although some of them looked pretty tired towards the end. We really appreciate the efforts of all the pupils and teachers particularly Jonathan Marker who organised the trip brilliantly. After the children left the Dynamic Duo headed on for Avonmouth and then under the Clifton Bridge before ending in Bedminster as planned. It was so hot that Mike and Nick showed off their highly toned physique (we apologise to the inhabitants of Bristol). Total mileage for the day is 20 bringing the overall total to 644. A big thanks goes to Shirley from Mike for his massage on Saturday at Lake Vyrnwy; it was truly awesome and he says has set him up perfectly for the last stint of his walk. Many thanks also for your kind donation. Nick & Mike
